The Oakland/East Bay (OEB) Section of the IEEE spans ten northern California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Napa, Solano, and Tulare.

Major employers located in the Section include Chevron, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, PG&E, and many more. Major universities in the area include Cal State Hayward, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and Fresno State.
